After the Yankees dropped both games of the doubleheader to the Mets Friday to make it seven straight, it turned around for them on Saturday and Sunday. The Bronx Bombers won in walk-off fashion on Saturday, again in walk-off fashion in extra innings in Game 1 on Sunday and once again in extra innings in Game 2. To talk about everything going on in Yankees land, we present a brand new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and four-time World Series champion Jeff Nelson.
Shearn and Nellie open the podcast getting into the Subway Series and Gary Sanchez’s big grand slam Sunday. Is this the start of a turnaround for him? Nellie explains why the Yankees should consider trading Sanchez in the offseason. The guys get into J.A. Happ’s strong outing and how important that was. They also get into Deivi Garcia’s terrific MLB debut and why he should stay in the rotation in September. They then get into Sunday’s comeback win and the shift the Mets put on Luke Voit, which helped lead the Yankees’ rally. I then yell about Edwin Diaz, Luis Rojas and the Mets’ ineptitude in trying to close the game out and now having to get the guys a steak dinner.
YES Network Yankees insider Jack Curry then joins Shearn and Nellie. Curry talks about Sanchez’s home run and his future with the Yankees. Should they consider moving him? They also get into Garcia’s dazzling debut, deserving a start Friday and the relationship between him and Erik Kratz. The guys also dive into the big series against the Rays this week and the confidence the AL East-leading Rays have against the Yanks.
