Joe Judge has the Giants getting down and dirty…literally. He was rolling in the mud, getting the team fired up in training camp as they get ready for their Week 1 season opener against the Steelers. To get into everything going on with Big Blue, we present to you Season 2 of the “Blue Rush” podcast. This season, our own Paul Schwartz will be co-hosting the show with two-time Super Bowl champion Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes.
On the first episode of the new season of the podcast, there’s a lot to get into, plus a tremendous interview with Tracy Morgan. Schwartz and Tynes open up the show reacting to GM Dave Gettleman’s comments on “the fighting Joe Judges” and what that means exactly. Do the guys like Judge’s hard-nosed approach so far? Tynes talks about what him getting muddy means for the morale of the team and looks back at being coached by Tom Coughlin. This can get the team and fans pumped up for the rookie head coach. The guys then examine the Logan Ryan signing and how important it is for the defense and the versatility he brings to the table. Tynes then analyzes his fellow Scottish kicker, Graham Gano, and what he will bring to the Giants kicking game this year and potentially for years to come. I jump in to wrap it up with the “You Got Mail” segment as I read Tynes some questions from Twitter, including his favorite Scottish whiskey and whether he is cool with being called “Larry.” Hint…he is not.
Tynes and I then have quite the conversation with die-hard Giants fan and legendary comedian, Tracy Morgan. In a wide-ranging interview with plenty of laughs, Morgan gets into his Giants fandom, favorite players, watching Tynes kick them to two Super Bowls and his high expectations for Big Blue this season. Morgan talks Saquon Barkley, Eli Manning’s legacy, Judge as a coach, the culture and ups and downs in his life. The outspoken actor and comedian discusses working with his hero Eddie Murphy in the new movie “Coming 2 America,” his dad being a mentor to him and much more.
