The Giants season begins Monday night when the Steelers come to MetLife Stadium for a primetime Week 1 matchup. To preview the opener and the entire Big Blue season, we present to you a brand new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Paul Schwartz and two-time Super Bowl champion Lawrence Tynes.
Schwartz and Tynes open up the show getting into the Giants naming team captains. Do the guys agree with the choices made for the captains on offense, defense and special teams? They get into Daniel Jones being a captain in just his second season, while it did not happen as quickly for Eli Manning. On defense, while Logan Ryan is not one of the captains, Tynes expects him to have a big role as a veteran presence. The guys then get into the DeAndre Baker saga, the disappointment he was and the team making the right decision letting him go after his legal troubles. Then it’s time to examine the depth chart. Does the unofficial depth chart bring any surprises? Who could be a surprise on defense? Tynes and Schwartz then preview the Week 1 matchup against the Steelers and make their picks. I then come in to go week-by-week through the Giants schedule and find out what picks the guys make and what they believe the Giants final record will be.
Giants great, two-time Super Bowl champion and All-Pro defensive end Justin Tuck then joins the show. Tuck discusses going up against rookie tackles, changing the Super Bowl MVP if he could and why Eli Manning deserved it. Tuck also gets into Tom Brady, his future, going up against him and the smack talk the two exchanged in the Super Bowl. The 37-year-old talked about his current role working for Goldman Sachs, what he thinks of Joe Judge’s approach, lessons he learned from Tom Coughlin and Giants fans needing to be patient with this rebuilding squad.
