LOVE Island’s Michael insisted he was happy for Amber Gill and didn’t wish he had won the show with her during an awkward interview on Lorraine today.

The firefighter repeatedly told Christine Lampard how pleased he was his ex had won the £50k with Greg O’Shea, despite being together for less than two weeks.

Grimacing, he told her:  “Do you know what I am so happy for them. Just to see the excitement on her face.”

When asked if he was gutted it wasn’t him in the final with her, he replied: “No not at all. Just to see that smile on her face. I am just so happy for her.”

Michael became this year’s Love Island villain when he snubbed Amber during the Casa Amor twist, instead choosing to couple up with new girl Joanna.

Furious fans accused him of “gaslighting and emotionally abusing” his exwhen he then started to personally attack her for his decision.

He further raised eyebrows when Joanna was dumped from the villa and Amber started to fall for Greg.

Having harshly reinforced that he was no longer interested in the beauty in the weeks after he dumped her, Michael then did a full 180-turn and claimed that he still had feelings for her.

Amber was praised by fans when she refused to buy the remarks, instead choosing to couple up with Greg – which was the catalyst for Michael being booted from the villa.

After leaving the show, Michael did a shock THIRD U-turn, telling The Sun Online that he now wants to rekindle his romance with Joanna.

He was spotted snogging her over the weekend despite him snubbing her on the TV show just days earlier.

Discussing their smooch, he told Christine: “We don’t know really know what is happening. That is the first time we have met. We still haven’t had a sit down chat.”

He added: “You can’t turn the feelings off.”
