KATE and Gerry McCann’s spokesman has hit out at sick trolls who claim they are “neglectful” parents who were “getting drunk” when Madeleine was snatched.
Clarence Mitchell said the McCanns had been bombarded with hate mail and distressing conspiracy theories since their daughter vanished almost 12 years ago.

The ex-BBC journalist – who has been helping the family deal with the media since 2007 – said much of the criticism aimed at Kate and Gerry focuses on their parenting.
He told the Daily Telegraph: “A lot of it is misinformed, misguided and based purely on assumptions or lack of knowledge.”
Mostly, he added, it is “prejudice. People deciding that they don’t like the McCanns.
“People also assumed the worst. That they were getting drunk, that they were having fun and that they did not care about their children.
“There are even those who say that the parents know what happened. They don’t. It is just not true.
“But try explaining that in the noise of social media and general coverage.”
Mr Mitchell spoke out as the world’s most famous missing persons case was thrown into the spotlight again by the hit Netflix series The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The family decided against taking part in the documentary, believing it would harm the ongoing search for Madeleine.
It has not stopped trolls from attacking them with fresh abuse.
We told on Monday how the official campaign website has been busy deleting vile comments in an effort to stamp out online hate.
Madeleine, three, vanished from her family’s holiday flat in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.
Kate and Gerry had left her and twin toddlers Sean and Amelie asleep while they dined with friends yards away, taking it in turns to check on them.
Cops believe a predator or members of a trafficking gang could have been watching the family’s movements so they knew the best time to strike.
In the Telegraph interview, Mr Mitchell also said he believes Maddie was “taken to order”.

He said: “I asked the British authorities what they think happened and if there was any family involvement, and they assured me it was just a rare case of stranger abduction.
“It’s very rare, but it can happen. A sexual motive is an obvious possibility.”
He also revealed why Kate and Gerry seemed so cold in TV appeals – because cops warned them the kidnapper would get a thrill from their tears.
And he said he’s heard “thousands” of baffling conspiracies, including that Madeleine was born as part of a government cloning project.
Kate and Gerry are waiting to see if the Home Office approves further funding to continue Scotland Yard’s £12million Operation Grange search for another 12 months.
