Brandon Machin, 37, appeared in Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today accused of killing Blake Barrass, 14, and 13-year-old Tristan Barrass.
The pair died following a “major” incident on Friday in the Shiregreen area of the city on Friday.
Their mum Sarah Barrass, 34, has also been charged with their murder.
She sobbed in the dock as she and Machin spoke to confirm their names, dates of birth, addresses and nationalities during the 10-minute hearing.
Machin and Barrass, both wearing grey prison shirts and flanked by three security dock officers, were then remanded in custody to appear at crown court tomorrow.
Haunting pictures today emerged of the two kids.
In one, a smiling Blake is seen wearing a baseball cap back to front.
Tristan’s hair appears dyed yellow and cut into a mohawk, as he stares into the camera.
Emergency services had been scrambled to reports of concerns for safety at a house in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield on Friday morning.
A man and woman were then seen being arrested by police as tragic news emerged that two children had died.
The three-bed house the incident took place at sits just yards from a primary school where an air ambulance had to land as it helped with dramatic rescue efforts.
Tributes have been pictured being left outside the house by neighbours as the community reels from the events of Friday.
