AN 18-year-old man has been arrested after a schoolgirl was allegedly snatched on the way to school.
The teen remains in custody after the 12-year-old girl was abducted in Hunslet, on Tuesday April 23.
Police had yesterday issued an urgent appeal for information, saying the girl had been grabbed by the waist and carried to secluded woodlands in Leeds about 9.15am.
The girl bravely managed to fight back and the suspect fled after being disturbed by a passer-by who called police.
West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating the abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Leeds have arrested a man.
“The 18-year-old, from Leeds, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident in Old Run Road, Hunslet, on Tuesday, April 23.
“He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.
“His arrest follows a public appeal for information.”
