Man suspected of abducting and raping two women named by police


Police have named a suspected rapist detectives believe abducted two women from the streets of North London. 

The man – 33-year-old Joseph McCann – is described as having a distinctive tattoo of the name Bobbie on his stomach and a slight Irish accent. 

On Sunday, officers issued an appeal for the  man wanted in connection with snatching two women in separate incidents on Sunday, 28 April.

On Tuesday morning, Scotland Yard issued a picture of McCann, who has links to Watford in Hertfordshire, Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire and Ipswich in Suffolk. 

McCann is known to use false names, police have said, and most recently used Joel as an alias. 

He is described as being of muscular build and 5ft 10ins tall. He has blue eyes, a bald head or shaved blond hair with a light-coloured short beard. 

Officers believe McCann may attempt to disguise his appearance.
