MANCHESTER UNITED are “close” to signing midfielder Bruno Fernandes after wrapping up a deal for Harry Maguire.
Gianlucadimarzio report Old Trafford chiefs are “preparing to close the deal” to sign the Portuguese international.
It is claimed United “closed” the transfer of Maguire – with Leicester holding out for £85million.
And now Old Trafford bosses will turn their attention to midfielder Fernandes, who has his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
Sporting want the 24-year-old to play in the Supertaca against Benfica on Sunday, a pre-season tournament played between the previous season’s league and cup competition winners.
Then a deal can be thrashed out between the two clubs with Fernandes thought to have already told his team-mates he will be leaving Lisbon this summer.

Fernandes was pictured crying against Valencia in a friendly after being subbed off in what many assumed to be his final game in green and white.
United failed with an opening approach of £49m – which was laughed off by Sporting president Frederico Varandas.
It was claimed only an offer of £70m will be enough to sign Fernandes – who netted 31 goals in 50 appearances last term.
