Man Utd had £23.5m transfer offer for Dinamo Zagreb winger Dani Olmo rejected

MANCHESTER UNITED were among the clubs who failed with a bid for Spanish starlet Dani Olmo during the summer.

An offer of £23.5million was reportedly rejected by Dinamo Zagreb with Wolves, Everton and Bayern Munich also in for the 21-year-old.

According to Croatian daily Sportske Novosti, Dinamo want to keep Olmo for the remainder of their Champions League qualification campaign.

They feel that, even if they sell him for a smaller price once the play-offs are over, the windfall from reaching the group stage will guarantee them a higher sum.

Last month, he admitted the idea of playing in the Premier League is attractive to him.

Winger Olmo learned his trade at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy before heading to the Croatian capital five years ago.

During the summer he was one of the key figures in Spain’s victory at the European Under-21 Championship, earning the man of the match award after scoring in the final.

The report states a contract offer is on the table from Zagreb that Olmo and his agent, Andy Bara, are yet to respond to.

Dinamo are currently 1-1 with Hungarian side Ferencvaros after the first leg of their third qualifying round tie.

It was Olmo who scored in Croatia and the winner will face Maribor or Rosenborg for a place in the Champions League group stage.

With the play-offs completed before the European transfer window shuts, it is therefore still feasible that he moves on this summer.
