MANCHESTER UNITED want to sign Ivan Rakitic if Paul Pogba is sold to Real Madrid, according to reports.
The La Liga giants have reportedly launched an incredible £145million bid for the French World Cup winner.
Sport claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will set their sights on the Barcelona midfielder if Pogba, 26, leaves.
United have been long-term admirers of Rakitic – who has been slapped with a price tag of £45million.
He joined the Spanish giants from Sevilla in 2014 and still has two years remaining on his contract.
But the 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp following the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax this summer.
United were allegedly given the go-ahead to sign Rakitic by Ernesto Valverde, but the Croatian star is determined to stay.
He said: “I’ve spoken with the club and the coach and we have the same idea, for me to stay at Barca.
“We’re open to everything, as always, but my intention is to stay.
“I have two more years on my contract and I want to keep enjoying myself at Barca.
“It doesn’t annoy me. I know that football works like this and it makes me proud because if other teams want me it’s because I’m doing things very well. I’m calm.”
