The makers of the British yeast spread mocked their rivals over cheating scandals featuring Aussie stars.

David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft all served bans for ball tampering using sandpaper but are in the tourists’ squad for the current series.

A new advert says: “Dear Vegemite, we might not taste like Australia, but love it or hate it, we won’t be tampering with it.”

Tensions began before the first Test at Edgbaston two weeks ago, which the Baggy Greens won easily.

Knowing the Aussie fans prefer Vegemite, Marmite employees handed out jars of the British version, rebranded Marmy Army as a nod to England supporters’ group The Barmy Army.

The Aussie brand hit back with adverts referencing their win: “Vegemite tastes like a come-from-behind victory by 251 runs.” England will look at win Lord’s this week to level the five-match series 1-1.
