The fireman’s wife said the affair started with raunchy texts but admitted it was “emotionally and morally damaging.”

She was arrested after colleagues at Dr Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City, told cops she and the student had inappropriate contact during a field trip to Washington, DC.

Twisted Coyle-Mitchell pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child at an earlier hearing.

Her husband, who has not been named, watched the 36-year-old become a registered sex offender.

Coyle-Mitchell will be under parole supervision for the rest of her life.

She will be eligible for parole in four years and three months as part of a plea deal, reported the New York Post.

Coyle-Mitchell was arrested and charged in June 2015 and tried to clear her name on Facebook.

She wrote: “Tragic accusations have been brought up against me.

“They are not true, and my name will be cleared.”

But she was arrested again a month later on contempt of court charges after trying to get in touch with the student.

The girl received two calls from a restricted number and a one-word message in which the sender used the teacher’s “pet name” for the teen, prosecutors said.

Coyle-Mitchell’s lawyer said she was merely a mentor to the teenager and was suffering from an anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

She said she had a “moment of poor judgement” when she attempted to contact the girl after her first arrest.
