This was confirmed in a recent post on Martin’s Money Saving Expert website.
The message stated: “Having the heating on only when you need it is, in the long run, the best way to save energy, and therefore money.”
While it is generally cheaper to turn the heating off when it is not being used, some homes could benefit from keeping it on.
Martin addressed homes that are quick to fill with condensation and experience mould or damp.
These properties could be helped by having the heating on all day.
