A Massachusetts man has been arrested for kidnapping a woman he met on Tinder, keeping her captive against her will for a day as he beat her, according to authorities.

Peter Bozier, a 28-year-old from Sudbury, was detained at around 7.28pm on Tuesday, police spokesman Lt. Robert Grady told the Metro West Daily News.

He has been charged with kidnapping, strangulation, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threatening to commit a crime, intimidation of a witness, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer and driving without a license.

According to Lt. Grady, the victim told police that the man held her against her will at his Sudbury home on Monday. He is said to have repeatedly assaulted the woman, the Middlesex district attorney’s office shared.

‘She was able to release herself from the situation,’ Grady said.

It is currently unknown how the woman escaped from the man but when she went to Lahey Hospital in Burlington to be treated, it was then that medical staff alerted police.

Police shared that the woman told them that Bozier threatened to kill her and her child.

Bozier – who was arrested while driving – is said to have become ‘belligerent, uncooperative and violent’ once at the police station.

He is said to have fought several officers, suffering cuts and bruises along his body. Bozier also suffered a cut to his finger, police shared.

Bozier was taken to the Emerson Hospital in Concord on two occasions as he complained of ‘medical ailments.’ He was released each time, police shared.

The suspect met the woman a little over a week ago while on the popular dating app, according to the district attorney.

Bozier was ordered to be held without bail until a hearing to determine if he is a danger to the public, scheduled for next week.
