MAURICIO POCHETTINO has told his Tottenham stars to make even more history against Liverpool tonight.

Spurs are in their first Champions League final and boss Poch – who is set to start Harry Kane – said: “We have the ambition to win and, in the final, it’s about winning.

“We want to write history and we know what we need to do.”

Big-spending Liverpool are favourites to lift the trophy for a sixth time against Spurs – who have not made a single signing in the past two transfer windows.

The Kop side also beat Spurs 2-1 twice in the Prem on their way to finishing 26 points ahead of them in the table.

But Pochettino, 47, said: “In Tottenham, no one expects. And if you build something special, I think it is going to be remembered forever.

“If we win the Champions League, it’s going to be a massive example for football.”

As well as no signings, Tottenham played most of the season at Wembley after construction problems delayed opening their new stadium until April.

Poch said: “Our team has become very robust since the season started ten months ago.

“We could not bring in new players so we decided not to sell anybody – only Mousa Dembele in January because it was his dream to go to China.

“We were not able to play in our new stadium until two months ago.

“That meant for organisational reasons we couldn’t do things how we wanted to.

“But all that has made us so much stronger because we had to overcome these difficulties and be more creative.

“I think we have shown in football if you believe and work hard you sometimes get rewarded.

“Because of that our group have not been overwhelmed by what has been thrown at them.”

Poch refused to divulge his team  last night but it is believed fit-again Kane starts after seven weeks out with an ankle injury.
