Shoppers have been advised to return McCain Foods Hash Browns to stores, due to fears the item contains plastic. The FSA advised: “McCain Foods is recalling McCain Hash Browns because they may contain small pieces of plastic. “The presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat. “Only product produced between the times 12:00 – 23:59 with the batch code W25032019 are affected.”

Continuing their advice to customers, the FSA said: “If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

This is not the first product to be recalled this week over safety fears.

Waitrose are also recalling one of the packs of sausages thanks to incorrect date labelling – which could lead to customers consuming out of date meat.

The supermarket are recalling Waitrose 6 Sweet and Succulent Port Sausages with Caramelised Red Onion Confit.

The meaty treat has been incorrectly labelled, and given the wrong ‘use by’ date. Packets that currently have a ‘use by’ of 04/07/19 should have been given a ‘use by’ of 04/06/19.

This means the product could be unsafe to eat after the intended ‘use by’ of 04/06/19 – but consumers may mistakenly think they can eat the sausages for a whole month after.

The sausages come in a pack size of 400g.

Issuing advice on the Food.gov website, the FSA said: “If you have bought the above product, do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Anyone wanting to speak to someone for further advice should call 0800 188 881.
