Arsenal face London rivals Chelsea in the final of the Europa League on Wednesday night – 2,500 miles from the English capital in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The match is huge for the Gunners with a place in the Champions League next season at stake, while Chelsea have already secured their position.
A loss would mean another year in the Europa League for Arsenal after they only secured fifth place in the Premier League.
Mesut Ozil, 30, is expected to start the match and pics emerged of him training hard ahead of the big game.
“Tomorrow is the day we have worked hard for all season long”
He was also spotted enjoying a break in the stands with partner Amine Gulse, 26, at the Olympic Stadium in Baku.
They can be seen beaming at each other as they share a joke – clearly in a calm and relaxed mood.
And Ozil took to Instagram to share his gratitude of her making the trip to Azerbaijan with him.
He uploaded a pic of the couple hugging, captioning it: “Thanks for coming to Baku my love @gulseamine.
“Tomorrow is the day we have worked hard for all season long @arsenal.”
Amine is Miss Turkey 2014 and she also starred in Turkish television series Asla Vazgecmem.
The duo have remained coy about their romance and it is not clear whether the two have tied the knot yet.
They got engaged in 2017 and are believed by some to be married already.
In an upload to her 1.8 million followers, Amine said: “My forever Valentine.”
While Ozil shared a pic of him kissing Amine on the forehead, saying: “With Allah’s permission, forever.”
Ozil’s teammate, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is absent from Azerbaijan due to the diplomatic tensions between the country and his native Armenia.
It’s even led to extraordinary scenes of police appearing to stop two Arsenal fans wearing shirts with Mkhitaryan’s name on the back in the streets of Baku.
With the injured Aaron Ramsey, departing for Juventus, also unavailable, Ozil is expected to start the match.
Manager Unai Emey said yesterday, “Ozil has very big experience in Europe, playing with his national team, important games.
“We are preparing for every player to be ready for the final.
“He’s working, he’s trying, he’s playing well and we need him.”
