0

The Met Office has been busy of late, issuing warnings as storms hit the UK over the past two weeks. Now an area of rain will hit Britain, bringing torrential downpours, difficult driving conditions and possible disruption to transport.

Grey skies have dominated the forecast so far today for the south, with temperatures in the high teens.

The Met Office warns: “Areas of heavy rain will continue to move eastwards across southern parts of England, bringing up to 1.1 or 1.5 inches (30 or 40mm) in five or six hours in a few areas – enough to cause a lot of surface water and some flooding on roads.

“Conditions drying up across the west of the warning area later.”

The warning is in place from 11.30am today, until 7pm this evening.
