Speaking to Sky News, Mr Gove said: “I believe the second reading of the bill will be an opportunity for the Government to set out in detail why it’s important that we have this legislation.
“This legislation is critical to ensuring that there is unfettered access for goods from Northern Ireland to the rest of the UK.
“We’re a unionist party, the Labour Party is as well.
“So I hope across the Commons there’ll be a recognition that we have an obligation to the people of Northern Ireland.”
