MLB will implement 2020 season under two conditions

MLB will proceed with a 2020 season, the league announced Monday in a statement a few hours after the players union rejected the owners’ latest proposal.

The league plans on implementing a 60-game season, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported, and is requesting the players show up for spring training by July 1 accept the health and safety protocols outlined by MLB.

It was expected commissioner Rob Manfred would mandate a shortened season following the union’s rejection of a 60-game schedule earlier in the day.

The two sides have long been haggling over the financial structure of a season during the coronavirus pandemic.
