British mum-of-two Fahima Yusuf mouthed “I love you” as her hubby Ahmed Seedat beat her to death.
She was laying in bed when he brutally attacked her before suffocating her and burying her in the back garden.
And as he violently murdered her, their children – aged two and five – were sleeping in the next room.
Seedat has been sentenced to at least 23 years in prison for the killing at their home in Perth, Australia.
He had meticulously planned the murder, searching for “burying a cat” and “burying someone alive” as he plotted to pursue a relationship with her sister.
“It may have been technically clumsy but it was calculated behaviour”
Supreme Court Judge Bruno Fiannaca
Unfaithful sex freak Seedat had been hiring a prostitute for years before he murdered his wife of eight years.
Fahima, originally from Bolton, woke after he struck her over the head as she slept last year on August 31.
He then choked or suffocated her, before burying her in a shallow grave in their garden.
The monster had the hole dug by a contractor – and claimed it was because he was building a swimming pool for their children.
Seedat lied to everyone when his wife disappeared, claiming she had gone to the UK for eye surgery.
He then confided in her sister, telling her that she had runaway and left him.
And tried to get a friend to pretend to be a copy and call Fahima’s dad.
She was reported missing four days after he killed her – and within 24 hours cops discovered her body.
Supreme Court Judge Bruno Fiannaca said: “It may have been technically clumsy but it was calculated behaviour.”
The 37-year-old murderer was charged last September, pleaded guilty in January, and has now been sentenced.
Seedat told police that while he was beating his wife to death she told him “I love you”.
“It demonstrates her fear and desperation to stop you from killing her. The deceased would have been terrified,” said Justice Fiannaca.
Seedat held his head in his hands and shook as the court hard the details over the killing – with the judge telling him it was a callous and cowardly attack for “egotistical motives”.
He was caught after police discovered internet searches in the weeks before the murder.
Seedat, originally from Durban, South Africa, had also searched “Can you marry brother in law if sister dead muslim”.
He claimed to police his marriage was falling apart due to his wife’s “sexual demands of him”.
Seedat is separately facing fraud charges, with allegations he stole $5.7million (£3million).
