An 18-year-old boy is still fighting for his life after three teens from the same family were pulled from the water near Clacton Pier, Essex, around 1.40pm yesterday.
Another 15-year-old girl is expected to make a full recovery.
The victim was today named as Malika Shamas, from Luton.
One relative, believed to be the dead girl’s mum, cried out as paramedics fought to save the child.
Mum-of-four Becky Bryant, 40, told Sun Online: “(The victims) were in a large group of around 30.
“A lady was crying and screaming as two people comforted her.
“It was so distressing, everyone was trying to do what they could; lifeguards, air ambulance, they truly worked as a team.
“They had a big, big family. One lady who was obviously related to them was sitting in between two people screaming.”
It is not yet known how the teenagers got into difficulty in the water.
Emergency services descended on the scene with a helicopter, boat and jet ski.

Lifeguards performed CPR on the beach as horrified bathers looked on.
Becky added: “The sea was coming in more and more and they didn’t stop what they were doing as they were trying to save their lives.
“Paramedics were running from one patient to the next. I have been a carer for 15 years and I have never seen someone need CPR as long as they did. It was a good 35 minutes.
“It was an Asian family. The ladies all had their head-wear on. The last lady that got pulled out, she definitely had her clothing on.”
