A WOMAN has bravely told how she was attacked with a machete by her boyfriend as she slept.
Sarah Whetham, 31, from Manchester, recalled how “dream man” Aron Condor, 40, launched into the horrific attack after he became “jealous” of the close bond she had with her sick father Graham, 62.
Sarah believes the shock of what happened to her led to Graham dying nine days later on March 5, 2017. He suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, when the tissues in the lungs becomes scarred, and was terminally ill but not expected to die so soon, she said.
Sarah, who had given up work as an office administrator to become Graham’s carer when he fell sick in 2017, told Fabulous Digital: “He was kind, funny and an avid Sun reader.
“I believe what happened to me finished him off. It was even worse because I was in hospital drifting in and out of consciousness when he died. I couldn’t say goodbye.
“I feel so bitter. I was really close to him and Aron stole his final moments from me.”
Sarah met Condor on a night out in August 2016. Moving in together a few months later, she was really happy.
She said: “We’d spend our weekends walking in the countryside with his dog and then have afternoon tea. I fell in love. I thought Aron was the man of my dreams.
“He was a real gentleman at first, but after a while he became jealous and demanding.
I heard a squelching noise, like liquid, and my dressing gown was soaking. I realised he was stabbing me
“I have a wide circle of friends, both male and female, and Aron was touchy about me even speaking to other men. He didn’t like me going out without him. But I just thought he was a little insecure.”
Sarah wanted to spend more time with her father after he became sick, but says Condor resented it.
She said: “I wanted to spend time with my dad but Aron would get jealous and resentful. He was very demanding. I was very close to my dad so it was awful.”
The couple began arguing and in one row, Condor grabbed Sarah by her hair.
She said: “Looking back I should have left him there and then. That was my warning sign.
“But he was so shocked and apologetic afterwards and he managed to make it sound like it was my fault. He would say that he was an alpha male so I had to be careful the way I spoke to him.”
My survival instinct kicked in and I struggled free and staggered through the house. I left a whole river of blood behind me
In February last year, the couple rowed again over Condor’s jealousy.
She said: “He was screaming at me that he was alpha male and calling me a slut, saying I was barren because I have no children.
“I knew the relationship was over. I couldn’t take any more. I went to bed with plans to leave him. I even kept my clothes on, under my dressing gown.”
At 4am Sarah awoke with Condor looming over her and punching her.
She said: “He was screaming about a text message he thought I had sent about a boyfriend – but it was actually one I had received from one of my mates about her boyfriend.
“I was trying to explain but he was raining blows onto me. Then I heard a squelching noise, like liquid, and my dressing gown was soaking. I realised he was stabbing me – not punching me.
“He shouted that we would both die together and he wrapped himself around me. I saw the machete and I could actually see the muscle poking out of my shoulder. He had also turned the knife on himself.
“My survival instinct kicked in and I struggled free and staggered through the house. I left a whole river of blood behind me.”
Sarah collapsed in the street outside and neighbours called an ambulance. She was rushed to hospital.
She said: “The police explained they had to bring Aron to the same hospital to be treated and he was brought to the same ward just two beds away.
“There was a ring of police around him and I had to be completely quiet so he didn’t realise I was there. I had to listen to him wailing for an hour. It was dreadful.
“I was in horrendous pain and shock. I just couldn’t believe it. The attack came from nowhere.”

Condor, from Manchester, was charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty to the lesser count of wounding with intent. He was jailed for 12 years and eight months in December last year.
Judge Michael Leeming, sentencing him, said: “Her injuries were so severe that she went to the major trauma unit at hospital. They are simply shocking.
“She was a sleeping victim who was vulnerable and was not in a position to defend herself or stop the blows. This is a grave example of wounding.”
Sadly, Sarah’s recovery has been very slow. She said: “Mum had to cut up my food and help me put on my bra. She should have been grieving for my dad but instead she had to look after me. The attack will live with me forever but it will not beat me.”
