Naga Munchetty explodes at ‘smirking’ Matt Hancock over NHS pay freeze ‘How do you dare?’

Naga Munchetty did not hold back when it came to grilling Matt Hancock about the potential pay freeze for public sector workers – which includes hose working for the National Health Service. BBC Breakfast viewers saw the presenter ask the politician the question five times, and he explained he was unable to give details of cabinet meetings.

“A pay freeze for public sector workers is being planned by the government,” Munchetty began.

“We spoke to Ben Wallace yesterday, he was really pleased at being able to announce his department, the defence, was being give an extra £4billion.

“What have you fought for around the table when money is being discussed and when this pay freeze has been brought up?”

“Naga, you know how much I appreciate all the people who work in the NHS and how valued they are – not just by me but by the whole nation,” Hancock replied.

Viewers took to Twitter to discuss the interview and many commented on Hancock “smirking” throughout.

“Why does Matt Hancock smile so much? He has nothing to smile about #BBCBreakfast,” one asked.

Another commented: “Why is Hancock constantly smirking? What is there to smirk about? #BBCBreakfast.”

“Matt Hancock has the audacity to smirk as he thanks #OurNHS workers for working as hard as ‘we all are’. I’m pretty sure he isn’t working nearly as hard. #BBCBreakfast,” a third chimed.

Someone else moaned: “Smug as f**k Hancock dodging giving answers yet again #bbcbreakfast.”

“Matt Hancock doesn’t smile. He smirks. It’s all a joke to him #BBCBreakfast,” a tweet read.
