Moon And Me, which aired for the first time in January, is described as “a classic series of gentle stories about a ‘family’ of comical toy friends.”
But for lots of mums and dads, it’s scarier than the most spine-tingling horror films.
It follows the adventures of Pepi Nana, Little Nana, Lambkin, Colly Wobble, Mr Onion, Sleepy Dibillo and Lily Plant and their encounters with a magical visitor from the moon, Moon Baby.
One petrified parent shared an image of the motley crew on Reddit, with the caption: “Moon and Me (CBeebies) is absolutely terrifying.”
And it seems their not alone in their assessment.
Referring to Colly Wobble, who is pictured sitting at a xylophone, one person wrote: “ F****n hell that xylophone kids [sic] dead unseeing eyes will haunt me for the rest of my days.”
Another added: “The clown? He’s called Colly Wobble. Pretty sure his side job is harvesting organs.”
“My wife and I have nightmares about this f*****g s**t-show,” remarked someone else.
“They way they move as well. It’s not even a joke.”
Other comments include, “No. F*** off. Absolutely. 100%” and “This is the scary bit of parenting people don’t tell you about.”
The show, designed for pre-school age children, is the work of Teletubbies and In The Night Garden creator Andrew Davenport.
It’s also been branded “abhorrent” and “creepy”, although not everybody is frightened by it.
One parent wrote: “My kids disagree and find it hilarious and adorable.”
