Paula, a former Corrie actress and Charles Bronson’s ex-wife, tragically died aged just 38 after being found unconscious in bed on Monday morning.
Her new boyfriend, truck driver Pete Jones, revealed he tried waking her for 10 minutes before panicking and calling for paramedics.
“I could see she wasn’t breathing,” he told Mail Online.
“I was desperate to wake her up. I was trying for… I don’t know how long, maybe 10 minutes, but nothing happened. She wouldn’t wake up.”
“I held her hand. I tried to gently wake her up by kissing her forehead, but she wasn’t responding”
An ambulance was scrambled to Paula’s home in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire – but sadly paramedics were unable to save her life.
Recalling the events of the previous night, Mr Jones added: “She got home and had a nightcap with me and then went up to bed.
“She was sprawled out across the bed so I went downstairs and fell asleep on the sofa.
“I came upstairs at 6.30am. She was laying there perfectly still.
“I held her hand. I tried to gently wake her up by kissing her forehead, but she wasn’t responding.”
“I held onto her, kissed her and stroked her.”
Britain’s most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson was said to be “shocked and upset” at the death of ex-wife Paula.
They split in 2017 after photos emerged of Paula with a man’s head in her breasts.
Chillingly, at the time Bronson said Paula “would be dead in two years” if she didn’t “get help” for drink and drugs.
In a statement he had said: “Paula has disrespected me, my mum and most of all herself.
“I can’t accept that kind of behaviour from somebody who is supposed to be my wife who also has a drink and prescription drug problem which makes her do crazy things.
“I can’t be involved with someone like that.
“I absolutely abhor alcohol and drugs but she needs to get help I’ll miss her but she needs to sort herself out or she will be dead in two years.”
