People urged to ward off aggressive seagulls by waving towels in bizarre council advice

If that “foolproof” plans fails, bonkers council bosses suggests people wave a towel or white cloth at them out of windows.

In a bizarre flyer, Shepway District Council in Kent tells residents: “It must be done regularly and it must be maintained until the birds have got the message and gone away.”

Other signs in Folkestone threaten anyone caught feeding them with a £2,500 fine because it makes them “aggressive”, “encourages them to steal food” and can cause a “nuisance”.

But the herring gulls have become more violent. They “dive bomb” pensioners enjoying fish and chips on the seafront.

This has prompted the council to issue the strange advice.

Last week the Daily Star revealed how a seagull picked up and flew off with baby Chihuahua Gizmo.

The dog was snatched from his garden in Paignton, Devon.
