Lee Gallagher, 44, was caught asking for naked pictures of a young girl by online vigilantes Dark Justice.
The self-styled paedophile hunters pretended to be a child named Jessie.
Gallagher from Halewood, Merseyside, who was teaching in Spain at the time of the exchange, told her he wanted to see her get dressed for school, saying she’d “look amazing naked”.
He said: “I’d love to watch you get ready for school.
“Seeing you take off your PJ’s would be so sensual.”
He also asked questions about whether or not she slept naked, and asked her to sleep with him.
Gallagher also asked if she was in a relationship and sent her an image of himself having written her name on a whiteboard.
But the messages took a more sinister turn and he sent pictures of his penis and a video of him performing a sex act.
The teacher who talked to the ‘girl’ under the name of Steve Jones was arrested when he flew into Manchester Airport last May, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Dark Justice had tipped off the National Crime Agency.
Gallagher pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a female under 13 to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, encouraging a child to watch images of a sexual nature and possessing an indecent image of a child.
He was handed a suspended sentence at Liverpool Crown Court and ordered to sign the sex offenders register.
He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of community service.
Furious supporters of the vigilante group said the teacher ‘should have been jailed’.
A spokesman for Dark Justice said: “We are shocked Gallagher did not go to jail.
“We hope the authorities make sure he is barred from teaching in the future both in the UK and Spain.”
