Piers Morgan torments a tired Mark Wright and calls him ‘blind’ for missing Soccer Aid penalty live on Good Morning Britain

PIERS Morgan tormented a tired Mark Wright at 6am this morning and called him “blind” for missing his Soccer Aid penalty.

Bleary eyed Mark was patched into the ITV studio from his hotel room after playing for Susanna Reid’s team at the event – which raised an incredible £10 million for charity.

And the 54-year-old Good Morning Britain host hailed his win as the best night of his life after Love Island’s Kem Cetinay scored a stunning goal for his ‘Rest of the World’ side.

He opened the show by playing Winner Takes It All and dancing around the studio with winners plate.

Minutes later, poor Mark was put through the ringer and Piers called him the “Gareth Southgate of Soccer Aid” after his devastating loss.

Mark had a brilliant first 40 minutes but took the penalty in the second half and it whizzed past the top left corner.

Mark looked close to tears as Piers recalled the game – which proved to be the most dramatic Soccer Aid game ever.

Despite being 2-0 down at half time, Piers kept spirits up from the sideline and subbed in Kem Cetinay.

They managed to get a draw at full time and it went to penalties.

Piers told him: “You did play a blinder because only a blind man would have missed that penalty.”

Mark protested: “The keeper saved three of my screaming shots, Susanna we should have been three or four nill at half time they are so lucky!”

Piers replied: “Unfortunately football is a game of two halves.”

Piers then got out of his seat and danced around with his champions plate as Mark could be heard shouting: “I’m going, bye, I’ve had enough.”

Kem put Piers’ team, which he co-managed with Harry Redknapp, on the path to victory with a stunning goal.

Piers, a long-time critic of the Love Island contestants as “brain-dead”, changed his tune after Kem’s jaw-dropping shot, which was set up by Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

The Life Stories host roared: “Suddenly I LOVE Love Island!”
