Police confirm ‘regular checks’ for speeding will be conducted on popular commuting route

The road was the first in the country to introduce a tidal flow system to allow better management of traffic.

In the mornings, four of the lanes are used for traffic heading into Birmingham City Centre with two lanes for traffic leaving the area.

This is reversed in the evening to allow a better flow of traffic for those leaving work in a bid to ease congestion.

With different lanes being closed throughout the day some road users have inevitably got confused with where they are supposed to be.
