Prince Charles sparks fury for Prince Philip hospital visit – 'Nobody else is allowed!'

The Prince of Wales was pictured arriving at King Edward VII hospital on Saturday afternoon where the Duke of Edinburgh, 99, was admitted on Tuesday. A Buckingham Palace source has said Philip arrived by car and was admitted as a precautionary measure. It is not Covid-related.

Britons were quick to take to Twitter to comment on Charles’ visit to the private hospital.

One man said: “Nobody else can visit their parents in hospital.”

A second wrote: “Plebs did not have opportunity to visit their parents in the hospital. Charles is a lucky man.”

A third said: “So nice that Charles gets to visit his dad in hospital, shame millions of people aren’t able to do the same.”

And a woman questioned why the heir to the throne was permitted to enter a hospital to pay his father a visit while she has not seen her mother in two-and-a-half months.

She said: “How come he’s allowed to visit his parent, and I’ve not seen my mum since November 30?”

Others pointed to the thousands of patients who have sadly died in UK hospitals throughout the pandemic with no loved ones at their bedside.

One said: “There aren’t enough numbers to count how many loved once died alone because their family couldn’t visit.”

The latest Government guidance states: “You may also leave home to visit someone who is dying or someone in a care home (if permitted under care home guidance), hospice, or hospital, or to accompany them to a medical appointment.”

Buckingham Palace have declined to comment on the hospital visit.
