Prince William's 'shadow king' training to replace Queen exposed: 'She needs relief!'

Queen Elizabeth II is unlikely to be seen outside Windsor Castle for many months to come due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. With several of her engagements cancelled, aides are said to be keeping her calendar clear until the autumn at the earliest. A royal source told the Sunday Times in May: “The Queen won’t do anything which goes against the advice of people in her [age] category.

“She’s going to take all the appropriate advice.

“There are discussions about what we could do and couldn’t do come October.”

A Buckingham Palace spokesman added: “The Queen continues to be busy and will follow appropriate advice on engagements.”

The monarch has continued to carry out official duties, such as meeting Prime Minister Boris Johnson – by phone – reviewing her papers and talking with aides.

Despite all of her efforts, some have speculated she might considerably drop her workload and step back from royal duties completely.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams recently told Insider that while the Queen is “famously dedicated to her duties,” she would not take issue with senior royals, including Prince Charles, undertaking duties on her behalf.

He said: “In the meantime, Charles who has had the virus and fortunately suffered only mild symptoms, is likely to deputise if necessary.”

Prince William, who, alongside his wife, Kate, has been extremely active and high profile since the onset of the pandemic, will also likely step up.

Buckingham Palace furiously denied the claim.

However, the leak sparked speculation that the crown could skip a generation, bypassing Charles, and that an engagement was also on the cards to William’s girlfriend, Kate Middleton.

William did end up proposing to Kate in 2010, while the two were on holiday in Kenya.

Billed as “the wedding of the 21st century”, Kate and William married at Westminster Abbey, London, on April 29, 2011.

They now have three wonderful children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
