Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, shared on Instagram the photograph which was stored in his attic at Althorp House.
Along with the photo, there was a caption that read: “I came across this today at @althorphouse in the attics: a photograph, from the spring of 1909, of young, graduating, naval officers.
“The boy seated to the right would briefly become King Edward VIII, while the one sitting to the left was his brother, later King George VI.
“My great-uncle Cecil Spencer is standing far right: he would become a much decorated First World War hero. Taken in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight.”
Charles is spending lockdown at the 90-room property in Northamptonshire, with his third wife, Karen and their daughter Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer.
King Edward VIII was on the throne from 20 January 1936 until the 11 December of 1909, when he was forced to abdicate due to his decision to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
King George VI reigned from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952, when the Queen was crowned.

He added that the visitor’s are either interested in touring the house’s many amenities or they wish to pay tribute to late Lady Diana.
Earl Spencer said last year that he intends to stick to the tradition of male primogeniture when it comes to his title.
The practice, which is customary when it comes to titles and stately residences, means the eldest son inherits them.
According to this tradition, Althorp would be inherited by drama student Viscount Louis Spencer, 25, instead of any of his three older daughters.
Earl Spencer has four children with his first wife, Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Eliza Spencer, Lady Amelia Spencer, Louis Spencer and Viscount Althorp.
He also had two children with his second wife, Edmund Spencer and Lady Lara Spencer.
Earl Spencer is said to have a close relationship with his nephews, Prince William and Prince Harry.
He attended both of their weddings along with his elder sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.
In the eulogy at his sister Diana’s funeral in 1997, he vowed to watch over her sons, saying: “She would want us today to pledge ourselves to protecting her beloved boys William and Harry from a similar fate and I do this here, Diana, on your behalf.
“We will not allow them to suffer the anguish that used regularly to drive you to tearful despair.”
