The National Fashion Industry Awards, which first launched six years ago, aims to emphasise the prestige of the country’s fashion industry and is promoted by Spain’s ministry of industry, commerce and tourism.

Letizia, who has two children with her husband King Felipe VI, has been steadily resuming her royal engagements after a turbulent summer that saw their daughter Sofia break her leg, and Felipe VI’s father Juan Carlos I flee the country in the wake of corruption allegations.

It comes as yesterday the former mistress of Juan Carlos, Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, 56, accused Queen Sofia and other members of the country’s royal family of launching a ‘smear campaign’ against her following their affair.

Appearing in her first televised interview, Ms Sayn-Wittgenstein claimed that she and her family were threatened by the head of the Spanish secret service in a bid to keep her silent about their relationship.

On Saturday,  Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI  enjoyed a family day out to Somao today as part of the Princess of Asturias Awards.

The royal family explored the pretty parish in Pravia, which was honoured with the 2020 Best Asturian Village prize.

Having all embraced a smart casual vibe for the appearance, the foursome also wore protective face coverings for their tour.
