Queen of Clean reveals how putting tea bags in your sweaty summer trainers will banish odours

THE QUEEN of Clean has revealed her very handy tip to keep trainers smelling fresh this summer – and all you will need is some tea bags.

Cleaning guru Lynsey Crombie, 40, took to Instagram earlier this week where she shared the surprising hack with her 147,000 followers.

Queen of Clean Lynsey Crombie has revealed that placing teabags in trainers will help eliminate odour

Posting a photo of her inserting some tea bags into trainers she wrote: “An oldie but a goodie today especially as the weather is heating up and there is nothing worse than smelly shoes.

“Pop a few tea bags inside your smelly shoes to fight off bad odours that are caused by heat and bacteria.

“Leave to sit overnight in a warm dry place. The longer you leave the better.

“Any tea bags will work even the minty herbal ones. Tea bags are super absorbent and will suck the moisturiser and smell right out.

“To save waste make sure you reuse the ones from your shoes for other household tasks. Tea bags actually have lots of uses from cleaning marks of windows and mirrors to fertilising your plants.”

The cleaning guru said that the bags are absorbent and will soak up moisture and any smell

Her post has thus far received more than 2,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans eager to thank Lynsey for her tip.

One wrote: “What a fab tip! I will be using this for my partners work trainers.”

Agreeing a second added: “This is an amazing tip and I would never of thought of this in a million years!!”

Lynsey first became interested in cleaning after discovering her ex-husband was a paedophile, and wanted to “wash away the badness”

Lynsey, who’s starred in Channel 4’s Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners since 2013, spends a huge six to eight hours-a-DAY cleaning her house.

She revealed earlier this year that it was discovering that her ex-husband was a paedophile while she was pregnant with her twin girls that led her to want to “wash away the badness.”

But her cleaning developed into an obsession which eventually saw her black out after using too many products full of chemicals.

  • Share the tasks out among the family and don’t take everything on yourself.
  • Make a to do list and tick things off as you go so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
  • When you vacuum, make sure you pull out your sofa and clean underneath and behind it.
  • Dust the top of your doors.
  • Used lavender spray under your mattress to make it smell amazing.
  • Tin foil is really good for scrubbing pans without the need for chemicals.
  • Don’t stock up your cupboards with loads of items, there’s little you can’t get to sparkle using only washing up liquid.
  • Potato skins are really good for shining up stainless steel.

Lynsey now uses all-natural and eco-friendly products – she believes that there’s ‘very little you can’t keep clean with a lemon and some elbow grease’.

And her fans adore her new approach, with tens of thousands of viewers tuning in to look at her daily Instagram stories of the latest cleaning tips and tricks.
