Performance of the day ⭐

Not many contenders to choose from here but without doubt the prize goes to Tommy Silver for the Paul Nicholls/Harry Cobden combo.

The pair have been flying so far this term and their seven-year-old, who at one stage looked very smart, absolutely bolted up at Ludlow.

He was carried out at the track last time but clearly bears no grudge as he waltzed away from some decent rivals.

The step up to three miles was a welcome tonic and he looks worth following now that connections have found his best trip.

Odds-on shockers💰

Punters will have been crying today as any number of odds-on shots got floored.

First off, Constancio ran out at 1-2 in the Musselburgh opener, then five minutes later at Clonmel the 4-6 jolly Edelpour went off like a hare on a sugar-rush and got caught late on.

Shortly afterwards, 8-15f Kupatana had her rivals eating dust before taking a tumble two from home, before Lucy Alexander performed a lovely pirouette from the saddle at the first flight on Evens favourite Ballynanty.

And it wasn’t just the afternoon action. At Newcastle, 5-6f Almost Midnight was stunned by second-favourite Forest Of Dean.

All in all, a bad day for the odds-on hunters!

One for the tracker 🔭

Again, there wasn’t too much to catch the eye.

Thedellercheckout is one to follow as he clearly improved for the longer trip and first-time blinkers, but the vote goes to Alright Sunshine.

He was one of the few odds-on chances that did the business on a woeful day for favourites – and looked impressive.

A penalty clearly didn’t matter as he ran out an easy, 8-length winner, and he’s one to watch even if the race wasn’t overly strong.

He’s now two from three and expect him to notch a few more before the end of the season.
