Racist yobs injure Gurkha veterans by pelting them with rocks and bottles at shopping centre

RACIST yobs injured former Gurkha heroes by pelting them with rocks and bottles at a shopping centre.

Thugs chanted “Chinese go home, you’re not wanted” as they hurled missiles at the Nepalese ex-British Army vets.

Cops said there were several attacks at the mall in Middlesbrough where the former Brigade of Gurkhas soldiers are security guards.

They were targeted while attempting to stop vandalism at the Gateway Retail Park. Cleveland Police said: “Some were seriously hurt after being struck by large rocks.

“Youngsters were also racially abusive to these men who have fought for Britain.

“They are very well thought of. It’s shocking.”

Police patrols have been stepped up. Some of the troublemakers have been identified, and their parents spoken to.

One mum later marched her son to the mall and ordered him to apologise.

Local cop Zoe Price said: “There is a sense of pride in having Gurkhas working with us, but we also want to have pride in our local area and remind people that nobody goes to work to be abused and injured.

“This situation could have ended so very badly but by talking to us, these men have seen their circumstances change for the better.”
