UNDER-FIRE Kepa Arrizabalaga was back at work on Monday as Chelsea got down to training at Cobham.

The goalkeeper drew criticism after his shocking refusal to be subbed in Sunday’s defeat by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Kepa joined the rest of yesterday’s starters doing recovery work indoors at the club’s HQ.

Meanwhile manager Maurizio Sarri and the rest of the squad trained outdoors in the Surrey sunshine.

The Blues suffered penalty shoot-out heartache in the Carabao Cup Final after a much-improved display led to a goalless draw with Manchester City – just two weeks after they were thrashed 6-0 by the reigning Premier League champions.

But it was Kepa who dominated the headlines after the stunning scenes that occurred in the dying seconds of extra-time.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper slumped to the ground in pain with cramp and appeared to be too hurt to continue as his boss Sarri ordered No2 Willy Caballero to get stripped and ready for action.

Caballero duly obliged and stood on the touchline ready for action, but amazingly despite his number being up, the £71.6m summer signing refused to obey Sarri’s orders to leave the pitch – leaving his manager absolutely furious and briefly storming down the tunnel in rage.

ALAN SHEARER Sarri had every right to hammer Kepa for undermining his authority

Both coach and player attempted to defuse the situation afterwards, claiming it was a misunderstanding, but the actions of Kepa led to an angry reaction from supporters and ex-Chelsea stars.

The Blues squad re-assembled at their training base this afternoon to prepare for their Prem clash with Tottenham on Wednesday.

Caballero – robbed of an opportunity to be the Blues’ shoot-out hero – was among the first to report for duty on Monday.

As was captain Cesar Azpilicueta, blasted by many for not helping to force Kepa off the pitch on Sunday.

Raheem Sterling’s decisive strike won the spot-kick lottery for City 4-3, with both Jorginho and David Luiz guilty of missing their efforts for the West London side.

But the much-maligned midfielder and Brazilian defender were right back at it earlier as they rocked up for work.

With Luiz’s fellow countryman Willian another star spotted driving through the gates of their Surrey base.

Chelsea head in to the clash with Spurs desperate for a morale-boosting victory that would help to lift the pressure on Sarri.

They are currently sixth in the table and sit three points of fourth-placed Arsenal, although they do have a game in hand.
