FRIDAY’S fancy was a late non-runner at Brighton, which was frustrating to say to least.
But I’m pretty hot on one at Ascot on Saturday and I’ve already reinvested my funds.
Wily old fox Gerald Mosse gets the leg up on TIME TO STUDY (1.40 Ascot) in the Shergar Cup Stayers.
The five-year-old has kept lofty company so far this season, tackling the likes of the Chester Cup, Northumberland Plate and Ascot Stakes.
His performance when third in the latter over 2m4f at the Royal meeting was a superb run, and he will be much more at home back over 2m now.
He has had excuses at times this year, but this represents a significant drop in grade and he is now on a very dangerous mark (won the Mallard at Doncaster off 5lb higher in 2017).
There are thunderstorms forecast, and I’ll be praying they arrive as this Motivator gelding loves to get his toe in.
Trainer Ian Williams has won this race twice in the past and there isn’t a great deal of depth amongst the opposition.
