Sky TV v NOW TV – Which is best for you?
Earlier this week Express.co.uk revealed a host of deals from Sky’s NOW TV streaming service.
These latest offers bring huge discounts across a range of televisions bundles including money off Sky Cinema, Sky Entertainment, Sky Kids and Sky Sports.
Some of the price cuts can reduce your bill by over 50 per cent with one deal on Sky Entertainment and Sky Cinema now costing just £56.99 for six months.
Along with the price cuts, there’s even the option to get six months of Sky Entertainment for free when you subscribe to NOW TVs broadband.
Here are some of the deals available :
NOW TV 6 months Entertainment pass – £27.99 – SAVING 42 per cent
NOW TV 6 months Sky Cinema pass – £42.99 – SAVING 40 per cent
NOW TV 6 months Entertainment and Sky Cinema pass – £56.99 – SAVING 52 per cent
NOW TV Sky Sports Pass – £20 per month – SAVING 40 per cent
So, with these discounts available right now, is NOW TV the best option to get some top quality TV at a reduced price?
The simple answer is yes…and no.
NOW TV offers a cheaper way to watch Sky TV

NOW TV is great because it offers instant access to hours of content without having to sign up to lengthy and expensive contracts.
Although the deals above are for six months you can actually buy a Sports Pass for a day (£8.99) or a Cinema Pass for a month (£11.99).
If you don’t want to continue watching, you simply cancel without fear of any additional charges.
This will clearly suit people who don’t want Sky’s TV all year round and it’s certainly a good option if you want to cut down your monthly costs.
Because NOW TV is streamed via the web you also don’t need a dish stuck to your wall.
To tune in you can use a smart TV, compatible streaming stick or your PS4 and Xbox One.

Most smartphones and tablets can also gain access via an app and NOW TV even has its own dedicated devices which include the Smart Box and Smart Stick.
Both of these gadgets include a dedicated remote with voice control and the ability to pause and rewind on-demand content.
So, NOW TV is a hassle-free option that’s cheaper than standard Sky but there are clear advantages of subscribing to the satellite TV company’s premium service.
Sky Q was announced in 2016 and offers a huge array of features you won’t find on NOW TV.
These include being able to record six shows at the same time and store around 1,000 hours of TV directly on to the set-top box.

As long as you opt for the more expensive 2TB Sky Q box, there’s also the ability to watch content in 4K with movies and sporting events available in this stunning pin-sharp format.
One final advantage of Sky Q over NOW TV is the option of having the service in multiple rooms via the clever Q Mini boxes.
Not only do these small set-top devices allow you to watch live and on-demand content but you can also watch all of your recordings.
There’s even the option to pause TV in one room and then continue watching in another part of the home.
If your internet connection is sluggish then Sky Q is also a better option as all content is beamed to the box via a dish and, unlike NOW TV, is not streamed across the web.

If you are looking for a cheap and convenient way to watch Sky then NOW TV is a very good option.
With no contract to sign you can come and go as you please and the current deals make it seriously good value for money.
However, its worth remembering that NOW TV doesn’t offer the same premium features as Sky Q and if you want the very best experience this is still the ultimate way to view Sky’s content especially if you want access to 4K.
