The wonderful worlds of Disney are now officially smoke-free.

Smoking — and vaping —  are both banned starting May 1, the company unceremoniously announced Thursday in a blog post. The news was buried in the eighth paragraph of a new “Know Before You Go” list targeted at moms.

The new ban includes Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and the Downtown Disney District in California.

The snuffing out of smoking areas comes in the walk up to the grand opening of Disney’s new 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions. The new “lands” will premiere May 31 and Aug. 29 at Disneyland in California and DisneyWorld in Florida, respectively.

Not all Mickey Mouse fans are happy about their rights going up in smoke.

“It’s not fair,” said Denis Morissette, a Canadian tourist on a smoke break Thursday in the designated area near Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Thursday, told the Orlando Sentinel. “It’s legal. I think people who smoke should smoke if they want to smoke.”

Disney reps have yet to respond to backlash — but they have announced that “designated smoking areas will be available outside the entrances of the [parks] and at Disney Springs in Florida. For guests who have room or dining reservations, smoking areas are also available at Disney Resort hotels.”
