Annette Alaniz Guajardo encountered the horrifying sight outside her house in Poteet, Texas, US.
The woman initially caught the sight of many arachnophobic’s worst nightmares when she was leaving her house in the morning for work.
Annette said the bat was originally only wrapped in a thin layer of the web.
But when she arrived home hours later, she was shocked to find the spider still guarding its prey.
The bat, who appeared to now be dead, had been further entwined in a thicker layer of the venomous spider’s silk web.
In her footage, the spider was seen lurking above its prey.
As Annette approached the giant web, the banana spider scurried away and out of sight.
She can be heard saying: “I’m here, I just got home.
“Let’s see what this spider did to the bat.”
The spider was later identified as a banana spider, a venomous arachnid that carries the same neurotoxic effect as a black widow.
Annette’s Facebook video has been seen more than 283,000 times since she posted it on Wednesday.
One person said: “My skins crawl just looking at it.”
A second said: “Yikes, nightmare!”
While a third person quipped: “Spiderman vs Batman. Spiderman ruled.”
