Sussex royal website STILL online, months after Meghan Markle and Harry told to drop brand

In January this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they launched sussexroyal.com. The new website announced their intentions to step back as senior members of the Royal Family.

As part of the agreement reached between the couple and the Royal Family, Meghan and Harry would stop using their “Sussex Royal” branding.

In a statement about their planned step back from royal duties, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.”

Meghan and Harry officially stepped back from their roles within The Firm on March 31 this year.

However, more than two months after quitting the Royal Family, the couple’s “Sussex Royal” website remains live on the internet and continues to say it is “The Official Website of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex”.

The website has not been updated since the couple moved on from their royal roles.

The Duke and Duchess today faced criticism after also continuing to use their joint H&M monogram.

In a letter sent to the national sports charity StreetGames, monogram – complete with the picture of a crown – is used in the letterhead.
