The 38-year-old launches Back Of The Net this week.

But the former England star fears that, at 6ft 7in, he is at risk of looking awkward with shorter guests.

Crouch told the Daily Star Sunday: “People know how big I am. But it can look a bit awkward at times…when I’m with small people. I’ll be mainly sitting down on the new show. I’ll have to.”

He added: “There are lots of disadvantages to being so tall. It can be a problem with getting on the Tube or finding a bed to fit, or getting through doors. But there are more pros than cons.”

Big-name footballers are being lined up to join Crouch on the show.

And he reckons he will be able to get them to open up more than usual.

He said: “I’ve got quite a few friends in football because I’ve been in that world for a while.

“We’ve got some top guests coming on. There will be chat and also some games.

“I think fans will get to see footballers in a different light on this show. That will be the best part of it.”

Crouch went on: “I used to be quite guarded myself.

“Then I started my podcast and didn’t think anyone would listen, so I started to be a lot more open. Then it became really big and I had to carry on.

“I found that people really enjoyed the insight I was giving them. I want this show to have a similar sort of vibe.”

Back Of The Net will also feature analysis of weekend football matches.

Episodes will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video every Tuesday.

Last month Crouch retired from the game after more than two decades, but he said: “Lots of opportunities have come about.”
