The cheap supplements to boost your energy levels and prevent persistent tiredness

Feeling tired all of the time could be caused by not getting enough sleep, or by spending too much time at work. But, you could lower your risk of fatigue by regularly taking iron supplements, it’s been claimed.

Tiredness that goes on for long periods of time isn’t normal, and may be caused by an underlying medical condition.

But, making just a few small changes to your daily routine could help you to feel more awake and ready for the day.

Taking some supplements may help you to feel more energetic, and less lethargic.

You could lower your risk of feeling excessively tired by regularly taking vitamin B12 supplements, it’s been claimed.

“Along with the other B vitamins, vitamin B12 helps transform the food you eat into energy that your cells can use,” said dietitian Gavin Van De Walle.

He told medical website Healthline: “It also keeps your body’s nerves and blood cells healthy and helps prevent a type of anemia that can make you weak and tired.

“Nevertheless, some populations may be at risk of a B12 deficiency, which occurs when your body does not get enough or is unable to absorb the amount you need.

“As a result, some people’s energy levels may receive a boost with B12 supplements.”

Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of fatigue by adding more iron to your diet.

Iron is used to make haemoglobin, which is a protein that delivers oxygen to different parts of the body in your blood.

But, without enough iron in your diet, you may end up feeling very lethargic and weak.

Pregnant women need twice as much iron in their diet, but around half of all pregnant women develop an iron deficiency.

Your tiredness could be caused by stress or anxiety, according to the NHS.

Anaemia, an underactive thyroid and sleep apnoea could also lead to feeling tired all of the time.

If you’ve been feeling tired for more than four weeks, it’s a good idea to speak to a doctor.

Making sure you get enough sleep could help to prevent you from feeling sleepy the next day.

Most adults need between six and nine hours of sleep every night to perform at their best the next day.
