UK outlook for Thursday February 28 to Wednesday March 13
COOLER than in recent days as showery rain, possibly heavy and thundery, spreads east after early fog in central and northeastern parts lifts. Breezy in the south.
Dry and bright conditions return for a day on Friday but it stays cold. Wet and windy weather arrives on Saturday, followed by sunshine and heavy showers on Sunday.
A cloudy, wet and windy Monday with showers or longer spells of rain, and possibly some hill snow, as the north stays drier.
It remains wet and windy through the rest of the week, not without some drier, brighter spells in between. Further strong winds and gales are likely in exposed areas, particularly in the northwest.
Temperatures drop to near or slightly below normal for the start of spring, but it could warm up temporarily as weather fronts move across.
On high ground in the north, it may be cold enough for some snow to fall, and there is the continued risk of overnight frosts where skies clear.
