Tiger Woods ‘makes best shot of his career’ as he rolls back years with sensational clip out of bunker in Mexico

TIGER WOODS showed glimpses of his best self as he made an incredible shot out of a bunker at the World Golf Championships in Mexico.

But the American, 40, is still six shots behind leader Dustin Johnson, who leads Rory McIlroy ahead of the third round of the tournament by two shots.

The American left fans and commentators stunned, with some claiming he made a ‘shot of his career’

Woods remains eight in the standings but his unbelievable shot – possibly the best of the day – could be a sort of consolation.

The ball was trapped in the sand when the American approached it at the 18th hole, with commentators saying he “might have trouble getting the correct distance”.

But Woods left them stunned when not only he curled it out of the bunker, but sent it just past the whole.

And fans on social media claimed it could have been the golfer’s “best shot of his career”.

Woods sent the ball just past the hole

One wrote on Instagram: “Classic freaking Woods. Love it.”

While, another added on Twitter: “For all the fools who question why it is he gets air time… This is why!”

A third wrote: “I mean, just how the hell does he do it so perfectly. It just blows my mind.”

And a fourth added: “Okay, that was the best shot of the day! Hits it within fee from the bunker. Holy moly!”

Donald Trump enjoyed a round of golf with legends Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus earlier in February

But perhaps his shot was inspired following a golf round with Jack Nicklaus and US president Donald Trump at his private resort in Florida earlier in February.

Nevertheless, Woods – who holds 14 majors – finished the second round with 66.
