DONCASTER SUNDAY

2.00

PREVENT shows his best form on this decent ground and was second in a decent handicap at Ascot off just 2lb lower last summer. He’s moved to Ian Williams since then and had a shout in what looks an open race.

Saluti is interesting for a new yard having had a breathing operation since finishing a close fourth at Kempton in October. He likes this trip and is on a fair mark.

Explain has some decent form over this distance and is a fair 3lb higher than his most recent win.

2.35

FOX CHAMPION showed plenty on his two starts last season, going down in a head-bobber at Doncaster before winning with a bit in hand at Kempton in October. He will appreciate the step up to this distance and there should be more to come.

Franz Kafka was third in a Newmarket maiden on debut and followed up with another solid effort at Newbury in late October. He should make a nice three-year-old.

Conaglen caught the eye when second on debut at Newcastle last time after missing the break. He should improve from that.

3.10

DANIELSFLYER put in some good efforts last season and is interesting making his debut for Michael Dods. He was beaten in photos for fair races at Galway and Leopardstown last term and this drop in distance could help too.

Royal Residence would probably like it a bit softer but he won well at Carlisle before finishing second in hot company at Ayr last term. He goes well fresh and is a contender.

How Far improved considerably last season and likes this trip. He’s up the weights but could have more to offer.

AINTREE ABSENTEES Cheltenham heroes Altior and Santini both to miss Grand National meeting

3.45

RED VERDON is a regular at Group 1 level and ran well a few times in red-hot company last season. This is the lowest grade contest he’s gone in for a long time and ran well in the Hong Kong Vase last time when hampered. He sees out this trip well and should go close.

Willie John struggled in France last time out in September but had earlier looked a real prospect with easy wins at Yarmouth and Doncaster. He should see out this trip and has more to come after just three starts.

Crowned Eagle is fit from a run in Dubai and was placed in a Group 3 last season. A repeat of that would give him a chance.

4.20

SHAREEF STAR makes his handicap debut from what could be a fair mark and he improved on each of his maiden runs last season. He was last seen in June finishing a good second at Leicester where the mile looked on the short side. So while he may need this comeback, the distance will suit and he has a lot more to offer.

Hulcote has gone up 5lb for winning on his handicap bow over this trip at Sandown in August. He seems to handle any ground and looks progressive.

Indomeneo is a regular in the places at this level and should be thereabouts again from a fair mark.

4.55

GOOD BIRTHDAY took a big step forward when winning at Newbury last time out in October and starts handicapping here at a sensible level. Stepping up from a mile to this distance looks a sensible move and there’s plenty more to come.

Mister Chiang did well to win over a mile in December given it looks like this sort of trip will be more to his liking. An opening mark of 79 gives him every chance.

Red Bond battled on well to win over this distance at Chelmsford latest and, while this looks a tougher race, he should be on the premises again.

5.30

CRISTAL SPIRIT won at Kempton for William Haggas in October and has been found a good opening on this first run for his new yard. This trip is ideal, he comes from a good draw, and has the top amateur pilot on board.

Ormesher met all kinds of trouble in running at Pontefract on his last Flat outing and looks on a fair mark.

Punkawallah is coming down the weights and wasn’t beaten far at Wolverhampton last time out.

ASCOT

2.10 My Way

2.45 Scaramanga

3.20 Vivas

3.55 Capeland

4.30 Josses Hill

5.05 Faithful Mount

5.40 Virak
