PINATUBO looks hard to beat if he translates his excellent all-weather debut win at Wolverhampton to the turf. He’s bred to be classy and quickened nicely in a race that looks like solid form. There should be a lot more to come.

Oh Purple Reign shaped well when winning on debut at Nottingham latest. He was in front for a good two furlongs and kept pulling out more. This trip suits well.

Misty Grey had seven lengths in hand when winning at Ripon last time. Mark Johnston is in form and his two-year-old can take a big step forward.

MASHAM STAR is an honest performer who ran his best race for a while when a close-up second at Chester last time out. He goes off the same mark here and horses that handle the Roodee often translate that form to Epsom.

Firmament was a good second at York in a hot handicap latest. He looks capable of scoring from this sort of mark and relishes today’s distance.

History Writer was less than half a length off the pace at Sandown latest but Seniority could be a bigger threat after a couple of fair runs at Meydan earlier this year. He is on a fair mark for Sir Michael Stoute.

LAH TI DAR found 1m2f on the short side when still managing to win at York last time out. She finished last season with a close-up third in the Group 1 fillies and mares at Ascot and this distance looks ideal.

She was entitled to need that last run after seven months off and has more to offer.

Old Persian impressed when winning the Sheema Classic in this grade at Meydan last time out in March. This trip is his best and he could be open to improvement as a four-year-old.

Kew Gardens won the St Leger last year and would ideally want further than this trip. His class can see him run a big race with Defoe capable of hitting the frame on this step up in class. He’s a big price.

ELECTOR is primed to give the Queen a big winner on Oaks day. He has been improving gradually and took a big step forward on his four-year-old comeback when winning at Newmarket last time out.

He kept finding more in the closing stages and this slight hike in distance looks a wise move.

Borodin is a solid each-way player after finishing well over a mile at Thirsk last time out. He shapes as though this longer distance could bring improvement.

Setting Sail disappointed slightly when a well-backed fourth at Ascot last time out. But that was his first blip and he won well at Wolverhampton earlier. That was after a long break so he may have ‘bounced’ last time and can show his best form here.

FRANKELLINA is a good each-way price for an open renewal of the Oaks. She has had just two runs so far and showed signs of greenness when second on her comeback at York last time out.

That was in the Group 3 Musidora and she did well to be beaten a neck despite clearly needing the outing. She can take a big step forward from that and trainer William Haggas wouldn’t run her without a live chance.

Anapurna and Mehdaayih form a strong team for John Gosden and there’s not a lot between them. The former was impressive when winning the Lingfield Oaks Trial, while Mehdaayih won the Cheshire Oaks in great style. Those runs were both on soft ground but this quicker surface won’t be an issue. Of the pair, maybe Anapurna offers better value.

Pink Dogwood has been well backed despite the form of her win at Navan last time looking fairly modest. She has clearly been showing plenty at Ballydoyle and will be a threat.

At big odds, Tarnawa won well at Naas over 1m2f last time and should improve over this distance.

5.15

SPACE BLUES was impressive when winning at York last time despite meeting all kinds of trouble in running. That he managed to win by two lengths underlines how good the performance was and he can take another step forward here.

Angel’s Hideaway was a good fourth in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket last time and that’s clearly excellent form. A repeat of that would put her right in the frame again.

Happy Power got going a bit late when third at Haydock last time but it was still a good effort and this distance is ideal.

5.50

Should we give RIPP ORF another chance? He ran a good race when fifth in the Victoria Cup at Ascot last time without ever looking like winning. He’s had a little nudge down the weights and his best form would be more than good enough for this.

War Glory was a close-up second here last time over a mile when meeting trouble in running. He had enough pace for this drop in distance and this ground is ideal.

Blackheath was a close second over 6f at Windsor last month despite missing the kick. This extra furlong should help him hit top gear in time.
